At Kiwi Roots Farm we make it our goal to farm as sustainably as possible. As stewards of the land, we make it a priority to maintain the integrity of soil for many years to come whilst striving to grow quality, nutritious food for our community today.

OUR FARM VALUES AND METHODS

Below is an overview of some of the integral parts of ecological and more sustainable farming practices that we value and utilize at Kiwi Roots Farm.

KIWI ROOTS FARM USES:

  • NO synthetic fertilizers

  • NO synthetic pesticides/ fungicides

  • NO herbicides

  • NO GMO

  • Annual crop rotations to reduce disease and pest pressure.

  • Cover crops which helps build soil humus, retain nutrients, promote healthy biological soil life, and reduces soil erosion.

  • Diversified planting and companion planting.

  • Reduced tillage methods to keep soil disturbance to a minimum in an effort to protect biological soil life and maintain soil structure

  • Compost that is used is produced locally and helps boost soil humus and feeds our soil life.

  • Employment of buffer zones around the perimeter of our farm to help reduce any potential run off that may occur in severe weather.

  • Production and distribution of produce locally
